WINTER FASHION FLEA MARKET WRAP-UP

It's a tough sell convincing people that it gets chilly around Byron come winter.

Admittedly, it's brief and mild, but there are at least a few weeks when locals get to pull out their jackets and beanies, which makes for a nice change from your typical beachwear the rest of the year.

Coinciding with this fleeting season, the winter version of our Fashion Flea Market was on fire, with the largest number of stallholders ever and scorching hot bargains from one end of the Habitat carpark to the other.

Matched perfectly with the cool and blustery day, there was everything you could want for the frosty months ahead, from snow goggles and ski jackets to faux-fur jackets and woolie hats.

The only giveaway that this was a winter's day in Byron, and not Melbourne or London, was probably the gelato cart by Benilato, set up in the courtyard, which did a roaring trade all day.

Rain did eventually come and spoil the fun, but thanks to Habitat donating all stallholder fees, we were able to raise $1500 for Fletcher Street Cottage, which is a hub for the homeless in Byron that's reopening soon.

Joining forces with Byron Community Centre, the team that brought you Habitat (Creative Capital) are helping reopen Fletcher Street Cottage by volunteering their time and skills to raise funds, redesign the space and manage the renovations. Like to support by donating your time or money? Or just like updates on how the project's progressing? You can do it all at fletcherstreetcottage.com.au
